Description:
Pope Pius X once said he would sell his mitre and ring of office to support the Catholic press in Italy. Why did the great patron saint of traditional Catholicism put such a high price on the Catholic press, and whatever happened to the Catholic press apostolate?
Michael Matt offers some suggestions on how to reset that most powerful counterrevolutionary force of the 19th and 20th centuries: the Catholic Press.
For the past 5 years, Michael Matt has been working extensively with the Catholic clans in Japan. This is the address that he delivered to the International Mission Symposium in Tokyo on the history of Catholics in media, highlighting the great social teaching Popes who called Catholic newspapermen to crusade in what they christened “the Catholic press apostolate.”
Who was one of the most famous newspapermen to answer that papal call? St. Maximilian Kolbe. Watch and share!
